CAIR-Houston Attends Council Member M.J. Khan's Forum

(HOUSTON, TX 5/16/07) – Council Member M.J. Khan of District F held a forum to report on his meeting with Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff. Several Muslim organizations and community leaders were invited to Lasani Restaurant to take part in the forum and learn about the meeting in Washington, D.C. as well as action items assigned to Council Member Khan by Secretary Chertoff.

Council Member Khan was one of five Muslim-American leaders and scholars invited to meet with the Secreatry in Washington, D.C. Items discussed in the meeting were issues such as verbage to characterize terrorists in the media, issues facing Muslim youth in America, and the difference between American Muslims and European Muslims.

This is part of an on-going series of meeting with Secretary Chertoff in an effort to bridge the gap of understand between Homeland Security and the greater Muslim community of America.
