CAIR-Houston Hosts Congressman John Culberson's Office at Family Night

(HOUSTON, TX 6/1/07) - District Director Nick Swyka of Congressman John Culberson's office was hosted by CAIR-Houston's Director Shariq Abdul Ghani at Crescent Youth's Family Night at Masjid Al-Mustafa.

The Family Night began with Shaykh Zoubir Bouchiki speaking about recieving guidance from God and the proper method of doing so. Director Nick Swyka spoke shortly after the talk and started off by discussing local, national, and international initiatives which Congressman Culberson is working on. Issues such as the Katy Freeway, Immigration Reform, and the War on Terror were discussed. The majority of the time was spent by Director Swyka answering questions from the audience of over 150 people.

This was the first formal contact Congressman John Culberson's office has had with Muslim's in his district. The Congressman was unable to attend the event due to a prior engagement in Washington, D.C.

CAIR-Houston will be working closely with Congressman Culberson's office in the future in regards to immigration delay, civil rights violations, and other violations.

This initiative is part of CAIR-Houston's "Meet Your Congressman Month". Each month CAIR-Houston will host a different Congressman throughout Houston at Crescent Youth's Family Night's. For more information on Crescent Youth please visit http://www.crescentyouth.com.
