CAIR-Houston Holds Workshop On Criminal Law
CAIR-Houston held Criminal Law Workshops at Masjid El-Farouq, Masjid As-Salam, and Masjid Abu Bakr to educate our community about major and minor details of the Criminal Justice system. The workshop was conducted by Harris County's Assistant District Attorney Kristin Guiney, Attorney Feroz Merchant, and Director Shariq Abdul Ghani and was attended by over 70 people.
The workshop was very beneficial, covering topics such as what to do when you get arrested as well as the limits of police search warrants.
Shariq Abdul Ghani, Director of CAIR-Houston, said, “It is important for our community to be up to speed with criminal law in the United States because it is our home, and we need to know how to react and engage the process better.”
“I’m very pleased with the turnout to this event. It’s time our community realizes the importance of knowing our rights.,” said Hani Shaabi, a Board Member at Masjid El-Farouq, “I’m glad Masjid El-Farouq was able to host this event.”
