CAIR-AZ OFFERS TRAINING ON ISLAM FOR MILITARY

(PHOENIX, AZ, 6/2/06) - The Phoenix office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AZ) recently offered religious and cultural sensitivity training about Islam and Muslims to more than 300 military personnel at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

Speakers included CAIR-AZ Communication Director Nure Elatari, Imam Omar Shahin, CAIR-AZ Chairman Mohamed Elsharkawy, and CAIR-AZ Office Manager Bushra Khan.

The three-hour presentations were followed by questions from participants, who received free copies of the Quran, Islam's revealed text, and other educational materials in English and Spanish.
